The Residence

The Gómez-Pardo Students residence exists since 1st October 1974; The Foundation provides and important social service to the students of the Mining School, who come from outside Madrid. The residence offers 115 rooms, distributed in a six-story building, located in the street Cristóbal Bordiú, nearby the Foundation.

Although the residence is first and foremost aimed at students of the Mining School, it houses also students of other schools and faculties up to 115 people and this allows the students to live together in a distinct university atmosphere.

A few premises of the residence are dedicated to cultural and leisure activities. Throughout the course, cultural and sportive activities are organized; all of them are fostered and financed by the foundation.

During the years 2007 and 2008, the rooms of the residence have been completely refurbished.

Infrastructure of the residence:

•    Rooms for male and female residents.
•    115 single rooms with bath.
•    Daily medical house visits.
•    Scholarships and prizes.
•    TV-video room.
•    Study rooms.
•    INTERNET WIFI in rooms.
•    Daily cleaning of the rooms, from mondays to fridays, except on public holidays.
•    Washing-machine, dryer, operated with coins, for personal clothes.
•    Daily press.
•    Receptionist 24 hours a day
•    Open 24 hours
•    There is no pre-registration period.
•    It is situated near the underground station of Ríos Rosas, in the Cuatro Caminos- Nuevos Ministerios zone. Bus stops in the vicinity.
•    Cafeteria.
•    Form of payment: quarterly payments in advance. Monthly rate for the course 2009/10: 738,32 Euros + 7% taxes, 790,00 Euros. This includes accommodation, 30 menus (either lunch or dinner) and 20 breakfasts.
•    Annual room booking: 558,00 Euros, 7 % taxes included. 2/3 of this amount will be deducted from the first quarterly payment (372,00 Euros).
•    Deposit: 200,00 Euros. This will be reimbursed at the end of the stay.
•    The application must be accompanied with the student record of the last course.
•    The rooms are provided for the whole courses (october-june).
•    If rooms are not used after 30th of june, these will have to be emptied of personal belongings before 12.00 of 1st of july.
•    In order to book a room in the summer months, please contact the secretary of the residence.
•    During the month of August, the residence will be closed.
