
Gómez Pardo Foundation’s, is a private Institution, non profit, its founder José Gómez-Pardo, whose purpose since its inception has been introducing to everybody, in Cultural knowledge about technology Science Research fields, besides cultural activities which has been provided under supervision by School Technical Higher Engineering Mine of Madrid’s Director.
Gómez Pardo Foundation’s history, is joined with its founder, Mr. José Gómez-Pardo Enseniat, Madrid’s citizen (1803-1873), recognized manufacturer, silver’s worker in a famous shop of silver situated in Ciudad Rodrigo street, Madrid - Mayor street, nearly corner-.
José was Lorenzo Gómez-Pardo’s brother, Mine Engineer and Chemistry. The First Teacher of Metallurgy and Docimasia, in that time, Mines of Madrid’s School just moved. Lorenzo dies young (1847) and José to create a Legacy by which had left to Mine’s School, the amount of 125.000 pesetas, as well as books, mineral collections and a lot of things used by Lorenzo.

Rappels incremented longer this amount, which helps to Mines School’s Director, Mr. Luis de la Escosura, to acquired a contiguous site whose was reserved to School’s building, in Rios Rosas street, Madrid’s. Mr. Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, a famous architect, builds a beautiful structure. Unfortunately, was destroyed years later, to build common houses. In building’s low plants were set up laboratories which pursuant to will’s José, is being dedicated to make practices with metals like gold and silver, as well as doing practices by School’s students.
In another aspect big amounts legacy´s José, were dedicated to fix a scholarship or for give an award by effort to the most brilliant Engineers Mine’s. In accordance with to practice in real mines, recently discovered, to develop activities in all theirs mine’s studies in Spain.
Gómez Pardo Foundation’s is today, a renowned and prestigious Institution, full of life, with an important capital which is dedicated -as his founder, told it- to give suitable support to Engineers Mine’s from Madrid’s school.
